I'm doing this with no Free Agents or NCAA guys apart from Pianosi who has apparently confirmed...
**are guys that are locks...11 forwards 6 defensemen and 2 goalies, that leaves 4-5 spots for the other guys in camp, 3-4 up front and 1-2 on defense
Forwards: **Gaudet(20) **Samson(19) **Marquardt(19) **Morehouse(19) **Eagles(18) **Smith(18) **Martikanen(17) **Labelle(17) **Lessard(17) **Cameron(17) **Voroshilov(17) Lamoureux(17) Lepage(18) Limoges(18) Brenton(17) Rousseau(17) Arachambault(17) Higgins(17) Murphy(17) Bailey(17) McQuaid(18)
Defense **A.MacDonald(20) **Welton(20) **Bourdon(19) **Emanuele(19) **Ouskun(18) **Pianosi(17) Boyle(17) Harmes(17) Croft(17) Lobban(18)
Goalies **Sniderman(19) **Riopel(17) Bolduc(17)
Others Belanger(20) Spencer(20) D.MacDonald(20) Blouin(19)

Is Brad Smith really a lock? He looked good in AAA last year but a guy like Brenton is twice the player he is, and more versatile.

What can anyone tell me about the guys in the system. Who is the most promising young gun we've got? I've heard about Lessard but who else is pretty solid?

Labelle Martikanen Riopel Pianosi and Cameron are the 5 guys I'd say who have a chance to develop into all-stars. To me those have the highest upside. Lessard is more of a 2 way, good all around player like Gaudet. Voroshilov apparently is very skilled but we will have to see for ourselves. Boyle could surprise.

On a related note, today's A-N discussed our Americans/NCAA guys ... Pianosi is apparently close to a done deal, although Torchetti said as of today, he had not signed. There apparently is some hope for Danis-Pepin and Sill. Of the Americans, it claims that Tommy Cross and John Heffernan are more likely to report than either Jimmy Hayes or Brian Strait, neither of whom appear interested at this time.

I heard that the Pianosi clan was blown away by what the WC had offered and it's 99.9% done. Sill apparently had his scholarship pulled by Maine, but he's not a high end player. He had 12-8-20 in 48 games with 68 Pims. He could be a solid 2 way 3rd line guy who kills penalities and plays physical in the Olivier Dubuc mold.

Cameron was a great pick but I think future "All star" is pushing it a lot. But I'm not knocking the kid as I think his game will translate well to the Q. He should have a pretty solid rookie year with you guys and I think he has the potential to be a solid second line player at 18 & 19, just not an allstar.
In Boyle I think you will see a lot of similarity in style to Dave Macdonald from last year, keeping in mind D-Mac was 19. Boyle is a similar size to what D-Mac was at 17 and in the Q could probably be a reliable and safe defensensive defenseman. Like D-Mac he doesn't necessary have a lot of high-end potential but at only 17 I think he could be a very reliable third pairing defenseman for the next couple of years which is why I was hoping the Rocket would take him. And just for the record he was on the Rocket's radar but unfortunately we didn't have any picks around when Moncton took him.
Anyway Best of luck to all of Moncton's prospects especially Smith, Cameron & Boyle. And like Billy I expect Smith to make your team. He has a great attitude and could be a solid 3rd/4th line player this year and in the future.

I didn't say Cameron was a future all-star...I said he along with 4 others "have a chance to develop into all-stars". If 2 of the 5 do and the other 3 are average or better Q players then it will be very good. Smith showed a lot of work ethic and grit last year, if he can keep that up this year, no reason he can't be a regular on the 3rd/4th lines this year. He has good size and decent speed and hockey sense. I think 3rd line is probably his ceiling, but teams need those type of players.

It should be a competitive training camp with a lot of spots available. I wonder if the club will start the season with an expanded roster until they figure out who deserves to be here and who doesnt?

Has anyone heard the rumor that Jason Rinzler was released by the Remparts and has a tryout with the wildcats?

Hmmm, let me think...you would either be talking about Yandle or Goulet, and if its one of those players, where are you getting your info?

Could be Pineault as well. Come on mcats, spill the beans so that you'll either look connected when the news breaks... or high when it doesn't.
