Slow week for Cat's news....anyone want to predict the Wildcat's winning percentage for 2006-2007?
My guess would be just under .600. I think the Cat's will be more competitive than many expect simply because they appear to be committed to fielding a decent team via free agents, US prospects, returning players ,rookies and a good coach. We will see if all this translates to a decent year but I think we're in decent shape, especially in our own division. The big key may be offensive production...but then again good coaches work with what they have...we will see soon enough.

I expect them to play between .400-.450 this year. Anything above that, I will consider a bonus. It will all depend on the FA's they manage to bring in and if they convince players looking at the NCAA to come here.

At Home: .650 On The Road: .420 I can see us performing above expectations up to the Christmas break with our "veteran" defense corps. But with the trades we'll likely make during the trading deadline, we will begin to fall down the standings. I can see us earning the 6th or 7th playoff spot but as Acadieman would say "Thats It, Thats All"

I think we'll be lucky to hit .450.

I'm saying .400
.450 would be a success, IMO
.500 would be a GREATLY overachieving season.
If we hit .600, I'll eat my hat... assuming I wore one, that is.

I still tink we can be a .500 club. We should be strong on defence as we have a decent core comming back more than likely. We will have an ok offence nothing like this years but decent all the same. We should still be able to out play St. John's, Saint John (still too young and not enough firepower) PEI. I think some of our guys from last year will surprise us with a more important role ie: Eagles, Marqhardt, Samson (assuming he's still here after X mas) Gaudet, plus I am sure we have a couple of young guys who will make the team that I am unaware of. I am actually excited about this year. I know it won't be like last season but it'll be fun in it's own way.

If Samson is still here after Christmas, then the defense is much weaker with Bourdon not here. I think no matter what the smart thing is to try and play .450-.500 in the first have and build up points, then trade 2-3 of Welton Gaudet Bourdon(or Samson if Bourdon sticks NHL) for 3-4 young players and a couple of 2006 draft picks. It's important to use this year to build for 07-08 and 08-09, otherwise they risk being mediocre for 2-3 more years. Free Agents could help ease the loss of key players.

If they end up with a .600 I will gladly buy you a hat ;D .500 would be nice to see but will be hard to achive. But with hard work one never know what happen on the ice with effort/lucky bounces. ;D maybe alot of lucky bounces

Agreed - I think we should sell off anything of value at Xmas to set up for next season and beyond ... that being said, I could see Torchetti getting the team to overachieve in the first half, and then being reluctant to weaken the team mid-season - which we would pay for next year.

I don't think a full firesale would be smart, but I can see 2-3 guys(19 or 20) that have a lot of value being traded, then maybe get a serviceable veteran(20 year old) in the deal or seperate deal to help ease the pressure on the 17 year olds.

I am sure Torchetti will want to have a decent team in his second year and a good team in his third year.(of his contract.) If he's thinking ahead he probably will trade off most of the guys with decent value Bourdon, Welton, A Mac, Gaudet?,. Hopefully we can get some young talent and some decent draft picks for next couple of seasons. It's also going to depend on how some of our FA's pan out too. Maybe there will be a diamond in the rough somewhere.

I think the Cats could be a .500 club or even better this year, but there are a lot of unknowns right now, such as NCAA players, the 20 year old situation, the return or loss of Bourdon, the impact of the Imports, FA's, and Rookies. The potential is there to have a competitive team, but its hard to say right now when our line-up isnt set.
