Because the Washington Capitals decided to send him to the AHL instead of here, it becomes his fault. He's a 19 YO rookie in the 2nd highest pro league in the world - not too shabby. He may not have had an exceptional season but it's part of acquiring experience/adapting to a long schedule. In hindsight, it probably would have been better for Washington to send him to juniors but in October, when they made their decision, he was playing exceptionnally well. There was even talk of him being called up to Washington. It's not like he said he didn't want to come here and that Moncton sucks or something like that. He made it to a higher level - what's wrong with that?

Good to see Chris Bourque getting the most out of the AHL. A devestating 1 game played. Yet another insightful hockey post and positive comment about players who chose other options than the CATs..... NOT

Did he get the concussion the first game of the season? His +/- sucked from day 1 and it was never not obvious that he was over his head. But having said that I don't think he would have been right for this team. In the Oylmpics he didn't seem to be a team player and that wouldn't have worked here.

Thats weird ... there were rumours (no wait ... they were newspaper articles) he was going to be moving up to the NHL early in the season because he was playing so well ... when we were hoping he'd come this way.

Washington told him to report to Hershey and he was just following orders. It was Washington's mistake to send him to the AHL a year early ... Bourque was just doing as he was told. But your comment is accurate ... I don't know why people get pissed at players that take another route than through the Q ... some people look at it as if the kid committed a crime ... when all he is really doing is evaluating his options and choosing what he feels is best for him.

I'm not pissed at bourque, I realize that was Washington's decision. I just think he would have been better of playing here on a top line playing for the Memorial Cup. Am I wrong in saying thats a better experience than sitting in the stands for the AHL playoffs?Maybe he was injured I'm not sure but no need to jump all over me.

Maybe if you had blamed Washington in your original post nobody would have jumped on you.

I do think that Washington made the wrong decision here.
