Rumors at Head Office is that Ted is taking Flynn and Lacroix with him. Hopes its not true. Lacroix was in an awful good mood yesterday. That all this is is Rumor..... This will be between Neil Smith and Ted not a head office Rumors

Well, if the Islanders played it right, it has/will go down like this:
1) Milbury selected Smith to be his GM; 2) Smith then selected Nolan to be his head coach; 3) Nolan can select his staff of assistants at a later date.
But we are talking about the Isles here - it wouldn't be a total shock if Milbury selected both the GM and the coach, hopefully not as I think a new GM should be allowed to put his own man in place to coach the team and not have someone hoisted upon him.
I would be somewhat surprised if Nolan doesn't pick at least one assistant coach with NHL experience. One thing for sure, this announcement is probably bad news for St FX as Flynn now likely has an opportunity to be head coach/GM of the Cats if he wants it, or NHL assistant coach - both positions are likely much more lucrative than coaching in the university ranks.

I would think that Irving is doing all he can to get Flynn here for next season. Assuming Nolan isn't planning on taking him. Flynn seemed to be the tactitioner and Nolan was the motivator. I think if Flynn was to come here it would still be a good situation for the Cats.

It would be great for the organization if Flynn and Lacroix come back.Mr. Irving had a taste of glory this year, so i'm sure he will do what ever is needed.

The Cats are more lucrative than St.FX, but the X-men are his baby and his family is in New Glasgow, so it wouldn't be a clear cut decision if the offer was there. I think Flynn-Lacroix would make a nice GM/Coach team with Flynn giving Lacroix a lot of coaching responsibility. I wouldn't mind Nevin being given a shot as GM either.

He would definately have added a little more grit to our team. We could have kidnapped Rad and Melanson, maybe offered Patty as a sacrifiece to the great evil hockey gods.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Flynn stay as Head Coach and Lacroix follow Nolan to NYI as he has already played for them so he knows a bit about the organisation.

Hey Hockeyangel,
Lacroix played 1 game for the Islanders in 1999, probably still has a key for the dressing room!
