Good for him. Looking forward to seeing him behind the bench during the exhibition game in September.

Neil Smith is expected to be named the team's new GM....
Looks as though Smith will be looking for work soon with Nolan behind the bench.

h ttp://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/nyi060607.html The high profile former NYI player to be added to the mix is probably Bryan Trottier...thought I heard an interview with Mike Bossy on XM radio last friday and he was talking about the addition of Trottier ( only caught the end of the interview but I think it was Trottier).

Sucky news for the Wildcats. Good news for Nolan.
Without knowing the replacement this news makes us weaker for next year. Having Nolan in a down year with his ability to get players to compete every shift would've given us a hard working team that could upset a few top teams in the regular season...
Well, I'm now hoping for a goon squad so we can at least say "well, we lost the game, but boy, did we ever win the fights." ;D

Need to check me facts before posting

I note that NYI has former Moncton Hawk (AHL) Dan Bylsma as an asst coach (among a few others) ... best shot blocker I've ever seen play in Moncton. Bylsma is a PK specialist and made his way as a defensive forward ... a character player ... usually the type of guy that make good coaches.
I doubt NYI will clean house with their assistants, especially if they are still under contract. Nolan may be given the opportunity to hire his own assistants in a year or so ... but I doubt he held out for an NHL job unless he could bring Flynn with him.
