Who will the Seadogs take with the 1st overall pick in the draft, Yann Sauve or Patrice Cormier? Some people are saying that Yann Sauve will be the player that the Seadogs will take, while others are saying that Rimouski is trying to acquire the 1st overall pick to take Sauve. In my opinion, if Rimouski is making an offer that would give the Seadogs more depth, then the Seadogs should make that deal. I dont think the Seadogs could go wrong by trading the pick and selecting Cormier 2nd, while adding some depth at the same time.

Alot of people might question it because they took defenseman Alex Grant with their 1st pick last year. Why take two defenseman with your first overall pick 2 years in a row? Why not build the future up front and take a forward? Well, here's why. Yann Sauve and Alex Grant are two totally different defenseman. Sauve has an amazing combo of size and skill for someone of his stature. Can clear the net with ease and has a heavy shot for a 16 year old. Like the saying goes..."Defense wins championship" and Saint John will have one of the best in 2 years.

Actually ... goaltending wins championships ... you need to build a team from the goaltender out.

Sauve is 99% sure of going 1st overall, now it's just a matter of if St.John keeps the pick or trades it.

At this point the Dogs would be better served building up some depth in their organization IMO. They would be better off with Cormier and another top young player (either via a second first rounder or one of Riki's youngsters from this year) than with Sauve alone.

I think they would do it if the price is right. The thinking around the league is that they draft d-men early because there are not a lot of "can't miss" all around d-men. Forwards can be drafted in the 2nd and 3rd rounds and still become impact guys.
