When is the Euro draft? and what do we have for picks? Seeing as how Marty won't be back and what about Bart. He really played well for us through the playoffs and Mem Cup IMO. Do we trade him or keep him back there to keep our D pretty decent? Or trade him and draft two more Euros. (Preferably Latvians, they seem to work good here ) Euro Draft is Wednesday June 28th. 58 CHL teams select, but since we finished with the most points, I believe that puts us in 58th spot to pick. I do not believe that we traded away our Euro picks, but I could be wrong.

i say get rid of Bart and start fresh with two 17 year old's if possible. Maybe we could add to the Marchand trade and pick up Vdo's euro pick because u know dawm well they can't afford one anyway, plus with their low ranking it would definitly be a top 20 pick at the least. Hopefully Nolan doesn't bring in 19 year old free agents who are just mediocre players,i say we should stack up big time on 17 year olds.

It would be useless to start with 2 17 YO as next year the CHL is supposed to go down to one Euro per team.

This is just me thinking out loud but why would Nolan stay here til the end of the draft if he wasn't contemplating comming back next season if an NHL job doesn't materialise? I think its great that they are talking to free agents and stuff but it is also pretty good that he is putting his stamp on the Cats draft choices. (even though at the moment we aren't too deep in the draft choices yet) I would really like to see them work out a deal as the T&T article yesterday sounded pretty promising.

I don't know Billy he looks awful sincere when he says he wants to be here next year. I can see him leaving for NHL and I wouldn't blame him, but I think barring that he will be here next year.

I didn't know that......that's stupid IMO,since they keep watering down the talent pool with expansion, euro's are a good way to improve the talent level across the leagues. I think we can easily upgrade our euro situaton by trading.....we have as much money as anybody else to spend on a quality player.

Moving Bartulis would depend on A-if they have a replacement lined up and B-if they can get good return back for him. I think a team like RN would be a perfect candidate, especially if they are losing Vishnevsky.

R-N would be a prime candidate, they should be stong next year and adding an experienced d-man is always crucial for an aspiring team.

You'd think R-N would want to keep him since he will be a top player this year.

The rumour is that he is promised to the Remparts who allegedly helped bring him over last season for the Huskies to hold for them until they need/want him ... we will see at the draft I guess...

Also, if the CHL does change the rule to allow only 1 Euro per team I would presume that it would be grandfathered in.

i hope.....the league simply doesn't have enough local talent to keep the league strong.

What is the CHL basing the 1 euro rule on anyways? Is it too costly for some teams? I think its great seeing some of these guys. If we were only allowed to have one euro we wouldn't have gotten to see Bart improve and become a pretty solid D man or maybe Marty would have been let go. (doubt it but you never know.) I think they should keep the 2 euro system as its pretty fun tp see the different styles of hockey.
