From this point forward all signups must be approved by a moderator. Any new member must register with a valid ISP email address. (ex : nbnet, sympatico, etc...)
Free web based email address will not be allowed until further notice.

I think I have to agree here with the people that would perfer to keep their identity completely hidden. Perhaps the Mods could explain to us, why this is necessary?? I am sure we now get input from some people who have the inside track on certain developments, ie: billets, Booster club members, perhaps even Wildcat management and staff, so to force them to identify themselves by their email account is a bit much. Furthermore there are some, I am sure that just have a Hotmail or other free email address. Lets here your rationale.

Rationale is that their has been people signing up a second account simply to stir it up. It hasn't become an epidemic as much here, as say Moosetalk but has increased a bit in the last month or so. We simply want to ensure an all out pissing match or the "quality" of the board does not dip.
As for people wanting to stay hidden, they still can. Once they register they can choose to hide their email from public view, catnut, forrest and myself would not be divulging this information publicly.
All that is changing is that we are now going to say yes or no to accounts, and asking members who sign up to stay away from free web based mail.
If that is the only email address somebody has and that person is known to another member here, if that member wants to vouch for the new person will a "hotmail" address then we'll allow them in.
Its not uncommon for forums to have these guidelines of activating or asking for non web based emails to be used at registration time.

Just incase anybody thought I was serious ... I wasn't. All boards are moving to this sytem to better be able to control the yahoos who come along. Its a good idea and if anybody opposes it they have to ask themselves why. You can hide your email address. If you feel the need to hide your identity from the Moderators ... maybe you shouldn't be here in the first place.

Well Ok, that rationale is OK, but I think the Mods will have to take their job of protecting these peoples rights very seriously. I think in the past some references have been made to posts by mods, which in my opinion could only have been known by having access to information that was hidden to posters.

That rationale is fine in one way, but bad in others......In my house, I use our nbnet address, however, my brother also uses my computer for these things as he doesn't have one at home now, also my son and wife join in once in a while........with this new policy I would be the only one allowed on from my computer, as the other have hotmail addresses. You are only allowed to use the same email address for one user, so this policy really sucks...... It don't matter to me, as everybody is already signed up, but for the new users who have 2 in the same house, it really sucks.

We have been quite careful about that, and even if some info seemed like it was privileged information, surpsingly enough it wasn't. But we still will be very careful about it.

Porkchop, as A Poster mentioned, if you vouch for them they would be allowed in. Let's say your brother would like to register with the address titansuckbigtime@hotmail.com , and you vouch for him, we would let him in.

Thank you, I just proved my point...........so how does that stop people from having more than one nick.......I can vouch for him just to get me an extra one......this system sucks either way.
